Gulmarg Overview

Gulmarg — literally the 'meadow of flowers' — is Kashmir's alpine showpiece. In winter it transforms into India's premier ski resort, with the Gulmarg Gondola lifting skiers and sightseers in two stages to nearly 3,980 metres beneath Apharwat Peak. In summer the same slopes turn into a rolling green bowl fringed by pine forest, dotted with wildflowers and framed by Nanga Parbat on a clear day. Whether you come for powder snow or picnic meadows, Gulmarg rewards travellers who give it a full, unhurried day.
